The new vintage of Cerro Basalto goes around the world

After a celebrated presentation to the press and to the on-trade sector in our vineyards in Los Lingues, our technical director Cristóbal 'Toti' Undurraga packed the 2015 harvest of Cerro Basalto and took flight to show the world these originalities that are also using for the first time their Demeter Biodynamic Certification.

This tour included meetings with Michael Schachner, the editor of Wine Enthusiast tasting wines of Chile, Argentina and Spain; Luis Gutiérrez, the wine critic who also covers the wines of these three countries for Wine Advocate by Robert Parker and eRobertParker.com; and Gabe Sasso, independent wine writer, author of Gabe's View website and wine columnist for several US media.

The protagonists of these tastings were Cerro Basalto 2015, a Mediterranean blend of Monastrell, Garnacha, Carignan and Syrah (Mouvedre and Syrah grapes aged in 400 liter barrels, 18 hl fudres for Carignan and concrete eggs for Garnacha), with the aim of highlighting the fruit and achieving a very fresh wine; and Cerro Basalto Cuartel G2 2015, a blend of Carmenère and Cabernet Franc, a more classic, elegant, silky and long finish wine, according to experts' opinion.
