Wine runs through our veins
Since 1885, the Undurraga family has been an essential part of the history of Chilean wine. In 2006, Koyle was born in Los Lingues as a renewal of that passion, uniting tradition and innovation.
Today, six generations later, we farm organically and biodynamically, honoring the land and its natural balance. Every bottle reflects 140 years of history, a love for Chile, and a deep commitment to the generations to come.

We are the sixth generation of a pioneering family in Chilean wine, heirs to a tradition that began in 1885 with Francisco Undurraga Vicuña. Since then, more than a century of learning, passion, and respect for the land have forged a legacy that carried the Undurraga name into the history of Chilean wine.
Today that legacy continues under a new name: Koyle. We set aside the family name on the label, but never its essence. Inspired by a native purple flower that grows alongside our vineyards, Koyle symbolizes effort, beauty, life, and surprise. It's our way of honoring the past while opening a new chapter in the family's history.
Being guardians of a 140-year tradition carries responsibility: making extraordinary wine organically and consciously, caring for the land for those who come after us. That same conviction inspired Francisco Undurraga Vicuña, who founded Viña Undurraga with cuttings brought from France, planting a vision that would outlast generations.
Decades later, Don Alfonso Undurraga Mackenna took up that legacy and carried it further. At just 26, he fully modernized the winery, drove exports to the United States, and opened the doors of Chilean wine to the world. His courage, his love for the land, and his vision continue to guide us.
Today, that story is carried forward by the new generation: Max, Alfonso, Rebeca, María, Cristóbal, José and Cata. Each one brings their own vision, talent, and commitment so this legacy keeps growing with coherence and pride.
Among them, Cristóbal Undurraga, technical director of Viña Koyle, spent years learning in different corners of the world before returning to Chile with a clear conviction: great wines are born in places that are respected. Thanks to him, Koyle embraces biodynamic and organic farming, seeking to express the purity of Los Lingues in every bottle. His recognition by Decanter in 2018 as one of the best winemakers in South America reflects that relentless pursuit.
Rebeca leads the finance area, ensuring the project's sustainability; Alfonso, president of Vinos de Chile, likes to say that "wine is our great cultural ambassador"; Max has driven our commercial expansion of this shared dream.
Bottle after bottle, Koyle unites yesterday and tomorrow. We celebrate our heritage, the land that sustains us, and the privilege of sharing with the world a reinvented family tradition. Our wish is simple: that everyone who opens a bottle of Koyle feels this story, this conviction, and this love for the living land that made it possible.

A commitment born from the land
For 16 years, we've dedicated our lives to giving new meaning to land that its former owners once burned for charcoal. Today, that same land brims with life, and it is here that the grapes behind our wines grow. Our commitment is to keep listening to it, understanding that wine is born in harmony with the land, and that its health and richness are reflected in every glass.
The land speaks to us, and we've learned to listen. It has taught us that its vitality and expression grow when we care for it with love and respect. In every step, every harvest, we work with the certainty that we are giving back what it has given us — and that, thanks to its generosity, we can offer wines that reflect the purity and character of Los Lingues. Organic and biodynamic farming have transformed our soils, allowing roots to grow deeper, water to be retained better, and minerals, in balance, to express themselves throughout the land. That deep connection to the soil translates into wines of exceptional quality, the fruit of a genuine commitment and a sincere love for the land that sustains us.
Koyle is the result of a love for the land — a way of living that converses with it, that understands its rhythms and joins its sacred cycle. Our legacy reaches beyond the present; it is a commitment to protect and honor the land so it keeps bearing fruit for future generations.
Our story
The History of Our Winery
1870
Francisco Undurraga imports varieties from Bordeaux, Pinot Noir from France, and Gewürztraminer and Riesling from Germany, beginning the wine legacy by founding the winery under his own name.
1903
Viña Undurraga becomes the first Chilean winery to export wine to the USA.
1942
Pedro Undurraga Fernández takes over management of the winery, becoming a pioneer of Chilean wine exports, reaching more than 60 countries.
1970
Alfonso Undurraga Mackenna, son of Pedro Undurraga, together with the General Managers of Chile's leading wineries, forms the Association of Wine Exporters and Bottlers.
2006
Alfonso Undurraga buys the Los Lingues estate, at the foot of the Andes, and together with his son Cristóbal begins planting vineyards on its rocky slopes, giving rise to Viña Koyle.
2009
Koyle begins its transition to biodynamic farming, starting to work alongside Demeter International, the Biodynamic Federation.
2012
Royale Carmenere 2010 is recognized among Wine Spectator's TOP 100 wines.
2019
Commercialization begins for the great icon wines, AUMA and Cerro Basalto, through Bordeaux négociants.
2020
Launch of Koyle's e-commerce store to drive the online offering.
