After several months of closure due to the pandemic, Koyle reopened its doors to tourists, incorporating all security protocols. We invite you to enjoy the beauty of our fields, and of course, to taste our selection of wines. Here you will find out how we work following the philosophy of biodynamism, which in simple words translates into caring for the vineyards in total harmony with the animal, plant and mineral world, incorporating the influence of the stars, to carry out different agricultural tasks.

Born in Colombia in 1961, René Piamonte was a great promoter of the biodynamic movement in South America. As an advisor and trainer, he had a deep commitment to guiding people and projects on their path to biodynamism. A man of great experience and knowledge in biodynamic agriculture, he also stood out for his human qualities, so his premature departure in July of this year leaves a deep mark on all of us who had the privilege of sharing with him.

Thanks to its freshness, strong fruit expression and soft tannins, Garnacha is experiencing a kind of rediscovery throughout the world. At Koyle we incorporated it ten years ago, planting it in the highest part of our vineyard located in Los Lingues. The soils of the Cerro Basalto of volcanic origin with a high concentration of iron give an elegant and unique expression to this 100% Garnacha wine that is launched with the 2018 vintage.

British wine critic and Master of Wine Tim Atkin presented his fourth annual report on Chilean wines last March. To prepare his report, Atkin made a three-week visit to Chile, toured dozens of wineries from the Elqui Valley to Chiloé, met with numerous winemakers and producers, and tasted 1.189 wines.
Also in March, the prestigious publication Wine Advocate by Robert Parker launched the report on Chilean wines prepared by Luis Gutiérrez. After tasting more than 700 wines, the Spanish critic risked it with a promising title: Chile: 2018 - The Best Vintage of the Last 20 Years?
Of course the Koyle wines were evaluated by both professionals, obtaining outstanding ratings.

At the end of April, all of our wines were already in barrels, foudres and concrete eggs in our winery, with the malolactic fermentation finished and resting until spring. Considering the date, this is the earliest vintage we have ever experienced. The grapes reached an optimal balance between their phenolic ripeness and flavor, delivering outstanding wines, especially in the Cabernet Sauvignon from the Cuartel F4 and the Carmenère from the Cuartel G2, both planted on our Cerro Basalto. We also produce exceptional components from our selection of parcels for our AUMA wine.

Biodynamic practices help the vines adapt as much as possible to their environment, improving their response to their surroundings. This translates into a clear advantage in the face of the drought our country is experiencing.

We continuously search for the authentic expression of a terroir through biodynamic practices. Hence our decision to join this important group. Our goal is to communicate and educate people about the advantages of this method.
The Agrupación de Viñas Biodinámicas de Chile has been created under the wing of Asociación de Agricultura Biodinámica de Chile (ABD) in conjunction with Demeter International. Some of its main objectives are to promote the culture of biodynamics, the sustainable production of wine, to provide international consultancy, to organize tastings and to promote educational opportunities.

Our hard work has been rewarded once more, this time by Rebecca Gibb, New Zealander Master of Wine and wine writer for the prestigious English magazine Decanter. Multiple vertical wine tastings were organized for our major customers and the specialized media from America, Asia and Europe to commemorate the first ten years of our great wine. With them, Technical Director Cristóbal Undurraga was aiming to showcase the consistency, seriousness and high quality over several vintages, which has put AUMA among the greatest Chilean wines of Los Lingues vineyards.
